Word leaked first via friends of singer/songwriter Jeff Mangum, when they presented Naomi with a copy of the album but told her that Jeff was too shy to talk to her about it directly. Years later, Jeff himself confirmed that, "The song was written after listening to the first [Damon & Naomi] album on repeat for a week while trapped in Louisiana feeling sad."
